Elder Ralph Essery brings the sermon on most Sundays. Ralph comes to Arlington Reformed Church with a richly diverse background in ministering to people from all faith walks, church denominations, age groups, ethnic backgrounds, Christian or other affiliations.
Ralph has been in full-time Christian service for most of his life. He served with Christian Service Brigade (a church-based discipling and mentoring ministry), then served as Executive Director of Northern Frontier Camp. Ralph holds a BA degree from Northeastern University, and has studied with the Leadership Development and Moody Bible Institutes. Ralph holds a license to preach.
Ralph has acted as spiritual mentor for many individuals, and has ministered to thousands more over the years through preaching and teaching. Ralph’s passion is in opening the Word of God to those who desire to grow in their personal relationship with Christ. Ralph loves to meet and get to know people....just where they are at. You can find Ralph and Liz Essery after service at our pot luck or snack fellowship-gathering and connecting with others.
Ralph and wife, Liz, have three married children and seven grandchildren, each of whom provides much joy to Ralph and Liz. They have lived in Rhinebeck, NY since 1987.
Cynthia Canaday, Church Administrator
Elder Cynthia Canaday has been a part of the Arlington Reformed Church family since 2013. She served in many administrative and support ministries since then, becoming the Church Administrator formally in 2016.
Cynthia holds a MA degree in counseling with a minor in Church Administration. Cynthia loves the work of the church and connecting with people, having worked for many years in agencies and counseling ministries as the director-developing and designing programs, and direct care with clients from all backgrounds and walks of life.
Cynthia manages the day to day functions of a growing church, helps design ministries, overseeing schedules, vendors, and the event calendars. She directs the worship ministry, builds and maintains the website, designs our print materials and works with those that use our building. Cynthia liaisons regularly with the Arlington Business District where the church is located. It is her passion to connect to the local community in meaningful ways.
Cynthia is married to Jerry and they have four children and three grandchildren. They live in Hyde Park, NY. She enjoys reading, walking, music of all kinds, cooking, family and church life.
Alexis Johnson, is a sixteen year old junior at Arlington High School, who lives in Poughkeepsie New York. Lexi has been playing the piano for about 6 years, but also plays the clarinet for band and various other instruments just for fun-such as the guitar and flute.
Lexi is a lively and fun young women, playing both traditional hymns and more contemporary pieces for corporate singing, prayers, special music, and pre and postludes pieces.
Lexi is a very versatile and genuine person. Lexi has said, "Playing for the Arlington Reformed Church is a great experience and I love this church!" She is much loved and valued at church. Serving at such a young age in a position of such responsibility is such a gift and example to many.
Lexi enjoys coffee anytime, anywhere! and is always present at our fellowship times after service.
